Oh. man. I need one right now! (who doesn’t?)
Neighbor kids, LDS, Seventh-day Adventists, and girl scouts (I don’t really need those Thin Mints and Samoas anyway) beware!
I guess you all should call now before you come over

Hulu Newsradio
I’ve had a number of people tell me about the greatness to be found on Hulu, and I got my first taste of it tonight. I was giving the wife a backrub, cracked open my laptop, and turned on some Newsradio. Good times.
They do put “mini” commercials in the show. There are three 15-second ads: one at the very beginning (”limited interruption brought to you by …”), and two in the episode at the normal spots. Overall, very non-annoying; I can live with it. Ditching cable might be a whole lot easier than I though it’d be.

Common Craft Twitter
I was talking with MattC the other night, and I made some comment about something I saw on Twitter that day. He responded by asking what Twitter is. He has an account, but didn’t really understand it, and therefore doesn’t use it.
I tried to explain it, and I think I did a decent job, but this video by Common Craft does a much better job.
If you Twitter, you can follow me @jschwanz and Brendon @bzo. And for that matter, you can follow We Are But Men @wearebutmen.

Awesome
As advanced as BigDog is, it’s amazing to see where they got the technology…

BigDog Boston Scientific DARPA DARPA Grand Challenge
The militaries of the world are behind some of the most fascinating technological developments (e.g. the computer). The US Department of Defense has an agency within it, DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), that not only birthed the internet, but is continuing to do, and sponsor, some amazing things.
First, there is the DARPA Grand Challenge, which is an event where groups (mostly universities) build artificially intelligent cars that race through an obstacle course. This is probably the most widely known project that the DARPA group is working on.
I saw another DARPA project a while ago, and found myself talking about it again recently. Boston Scientific is working on a quadruped robot known as BigDog. Absolutely bizarre. Check out the video of it in action, and try not to be scared and amazed at the same time.
